IMMERSE YOURSELF

Open a book, read the words, immerse your mind in the imagery. Let the story carry you away and live the adventure in your mind's eye. Getting lost in the pages of a good story or a great poem is a form of meditation and day dreaming. It is not only fun, but it can be beneficial to the whole person. A book is more than just a collection of paper or electronic notes; it is a journey and an experience.

WHY HORROR?

Because it is a great escape to another world where danger abounds, yet no harm can come to the reader.

WHAT MONSTERS WILL AWAKEN TODAY?

Today, more horror stories will be born. A title I have in mind right now is; Funeral For a friend. I want to make this one kind of distrurbing! What would horror be if it didn't disturb us in one way or another?

SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY

After taking a break from the keyboard over the weekend, I'm ready to launch back into some writing tomorrow. I've come up with some great story ideas for the next anthology I am working on. Can't wait to put them down on paper. It will be a devilish good time!

GHOSTS

Sometimes the past can haunt us all like ghosts looming behind our backs. But the creative person draws upon that energy to create something unique that has depth and feeling. Writing is more than just words, it is emotion. And we can all use our past experiences to make a masterpiece. Without our ghosts, their wouldn't be so many great ghosts stories.

MY WRITING MOTTO

I've heard a lot of writers down other authors and their work. I once knew a person who thought no one could master the art of storytelling but himself; and yet he never published a single word. My motto is this: Every person has their own style and that style may not be for everyone. But the world of literature is a free world, and every voice has a right to be heard.

HARD AT WORK

Hard at work today on new projects for the future. Currently I am working on another zombie anthology and a collection of dark poetry entitled, Dust Over Despair. Here is a sample of one of the poems:

ROLL THE BONES

Good fortune falls away
as the dried bones are cast upon the ground;
fortuneteller’s forecast-
filled with doom and despair.
Divination peels back the heavens,
revealing the face of a twisted pagan god-
Fate implodes
like spontaneous human combustion.
The twisted face of the Bell Witch
mocks from within the crystal ball.
My life a mirage-
caught between two illusions.

HELLO FROM THE SHADOW SIDE

Hello out there in internet land; I'm Devin Graves. I am a writer of horror, Sci-Fi and Poetry. I am just beginning my journey as a writer after many years of contemplating the idea, and having some short stories and poetry published in magazines. My first book will be released sometime this year by Gypsy Shadow Publishing and I hope that many of you will give it a browse. It is a relatively short, kind of introduction piece, entitled; EQUINOX OF THE DEAD. Equinox consists of two short stories that deal with the famed zombie apocalypse genre. I really enjoyed writing these stories and also wrote the kind of "living dead" tales that I myself would want to read. Below is a tentative cover for the project; I hope that it finds a warm welcome in the world of fiction.
